Gerald Mader Fellowship

The Austrian Peace Centre (ACP), in collaboration with the Province of Burgenland, will award two fellowships in 2026. The initiative honours the founder of the ACP, Dr Gerald Mader, who would have celebrated his 100th birthday on 1 April.

The fellowships are aimed at students from Burgenland and at students conducting academic research on Burgenland. Each fellowship is worth a total of EUR 7,500 and is paid out in monthly instalments over a period of six months. It offers PhD students and post-docs the opportunity to conduct research on topics relevant to peace.

Funding is available for research projects in the following areas:

  • Peace and Antisemitism Research
  • Peace and Anti-Racism Research with a Focus on Ethnic Minorities
  • International Peace and Conflict Research

The application deadline is 30 April 2026. The selection will be made by a five-member jury comprising representatives from the Province of Burgenland and the ACP. Both fellowships will commence on 1 September 2026.
