Description
The
aim of the “Mission Preparation
Training” courses (MPT) is to provide active or future mission
personnel with a wide range of civilian expertise in order to:
- enable
them to acquire the necessary skills to function effectively;
- reduce
any potential gaps that may exist among various mission members;
- equip
them to understand specific situations on the ground and their
responsibilities according to the mission’s mandate and;
- enhance
the overall credibility, professionalism and the image of OSCE staff.
Specific
issues, relevant for the OSCE Secretariat and OSCE mission personnel are dealt
with in training seminars, workshops and other types of meetings. Representatives
of OSCE institutions and field missions actively participate on a voluntary
basis in the training programme. OSCE participation includes providing lecturers
and trainers as well as seconding active or future members of OSCE field
missions as participants.
Usually
participants are appointed by OSCE organizations. For the respective courses,
curricula, methodology, application procedure as well as costs and conditions of
participation are defined in accordance with the OSCE secretariat. Courses take
place at the Conference Center in Burg Schlaining and participants are
accommodated in the Hotel Burg
Schlaining.
