Conditions for
Participation
Applicants
to the Core Course should also be willing to undergo further function specific
training
in one of the Specialization Courses in order to get prepared for peace-keeping
and peace-building activities.
Precondition
for attendance of a Specialization Course is having participated in one
of our “Core Courses” (or a similar basic mission preparation training
course) or to have, acquired through personal experiences, a thorough knowledge
of the work in a field mission.
The
working language is English.
Applicants must therefore have a good command of the English language in order
to be able to actively contribute to, and fully benefit from the training course.
Applicants
should be in a good state of physical and mental health. This is not only
necessary for later deployment, but also for some of the outdoor training
activities.
Since
the program is built upon a modular system, participants who arrive late or
would like to depart early can not be accepted. The intensive format of the
program does not allow for any additional commitments during the course.
Taking into account recruitment standards of international organizations, all participants should
be aged
preferably between 25 and 60
have expertise and relevant work experience in their respective areas of professional competence
have at least a first level university degree or equivalent professional experience
be
motivated,
willing and available to carry out Peace-keeping and Peace-building activities
be able and willing to work in a team and within a multicultural environment
be able to
work under pressure and to endure difficult conditions
be in good
physical and mental health
have a good
command of English
have a valid
driving license
be computer literate

Applications
must reach our office before the end of the application deadline (exceptions are
possible for applicants who do not need a scholarship from IPT). The date of the
e-mail / stamping date on the envelope is relevant.
The
ASPR will notify applicants about the decision of the admission board at a given
time after the application deadline. Please do not call or e-mail us – we will
contact you!
Selected
participants must confirm their participation until the deadline stated in the
admission letter. By the same date, the candidates are also requested to pay the
down payment of 250 Euro.
The
International Civilian Peace-keeping and Peace-Building Training (IPT) and the
Austrian Study Center for Peace and Conflict Resolution (ASPR) are firmly
committed to a policy of non-discrimination against any person on the basis of
sex, age, race, religion, national origin, marital status or sexual orientation.

The
course fee is 630 € / week. It includes the tuition fee, half-board
accomodation, the course materials (including a CD-ROM containing the course
readings), and an evening excursion to a typical restaurant of the region.
The
conference rooms in the Castle offer a computer lab with internet for free use.
The hotel lobby is equipped with free wireless LAN. – Bring your laptop!

Any
additional costs (taxi, bus rides etc.) have to be covered by the participants.
For
applicants from Non-OECD countries
A
limited number of scholarships, provided by the Austrian government, is
available for participants coming from developing countries and reform states
according to OECD criteria. Applicants who would like to apply for such support
have to indicate
this in the respective section of the application form and give reasons for
their request in their application essay. However, there is no possibility to
get financial support for travel expenses. Likewise, there is no way to take
over the cost of insurance which is required by the Austrian embassies in most
African and Asian countries. Applicants may approach institutions providing
grants (e.g. Soros Foundation) for financial assistance.
For applicants from OECD Countries( incl. Austria)
Applicants from Austria and other OECD countries may ask their employer or funding agencies for support.
Austrian civil servants may ask their respective institution to pay the
cost of participation.

people
preparing to go to the field in the framework of their own organization, e.g.:

Applicants
from OECD or non-OECD countries
already working with international organizations – at headquarters or in field
missions (e.g. Asian Development Bank, OSCE, UN) – are not eligible for
scholarships and may ask their organization
for support.
